Vertue #74: Kukri

Vertue hull number 74 was laid down at Aeromarine in Emsworth, U.K. in 1951. The hull is Mahogany over English Oak, the deadwood aft of the keel is a single piece of English Rock Elm. She is fastened with copper and ballasted outside with Iron. She was launched in 1952 with the name Kukri and spent her early years in the eastern Mediterranean. In 1960 she was purchased by Harold Lyne of Victoria and shipped from the U.K. as deck cargo. Kukri would spend the following decades cruising the North West coast. She arrived at the Silva Bay shipyard School on Gabriola Island as a hull in need of some serious TLC but in very sound condition. There she was re-decked and some of the interior work laid out.

Trevor Henderson purchased Kukri in 2006 and moved her to his workshop on Gabriola for a full restoration.  She is currently available for commission - all interior, finish, rigging and detailing can be customized to owner's specifications.
